Val di Breguzzo
A land of contrasts: from the quite green Alpine pastures to much more rugged areas
In the heart of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, the Breguzzo valley is a beautiful, rugged and unspoiled valley above Roncone.
The Arnò river flows down the valley on its way, via the Sarca river, to Lake Garda. Its rural Alpine landscape is punctuated by a series of waterfalls and the mountain pastures at Arnò and Maggiasone. Above Maggiasone, the Passo del Frate mountain pass (2,246 m) connects the Val Breguzzo with the Valbona and the Val Daòne, two other beautiful valleys in this delightful corner of the Italian Alps. Meanwhile, the Passo d’Arnò connects with the Val Danèrba.
The name Breguzzo has two possible origins (documented as far back as 927 AD): one is Celtic and is derived from the word for a mountain, the other is German and means a fortified village.
